About the Event
York County residents will continue the annual fundraising tradition of walking to help address world hunger on Sunday with the 50th CROP Hunger Walk.
Since the event's inception in 1979, faith leaders and community members have walked to raise money to assist the hungry. This year, on Sunday, Oct. 13, participants will raise money for the York County Food Bank and the Church World Service.
Organizers have set a goal to bring in 1,200 participants in hopes of raising $50,000. The Rev. Roger and Silvia Burtner have agreed to match the money raised.
There will be four starting locations for the walk, all of which will end in Continental Square before a celebration in front of the York County Administrative Building. Participants must sign in by 1:30 p.m., and the walks will begin at 2 p.m.
The four starting locations are:
- St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St.
- St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 947 N. George St.
- Fourth United Methodist Church, 1067 E. Market St.
- St. Paul Lutheran Church, 25 W. Springettsbury Ave.
